Christie’s Education is pleased to announce a five-session course: Aspects of Post-War and Contemporary Prints. This course will combine a scholarly approach and first-hand contact with objects to strengthen connoisseurship skills.
The course will begin with a visit to the extensive print collection at the New York Public Library to gain an overview of various printmaking processes. Subsequent lectures at Christie’s Education will address print collecting from a curator’s perspective, a look back at the American print renaissance of the 1960s, and a presentation on contemporary print collaborations by a master printer. The course will conclude with a private sale walk-through with a Christie’s specialist.
Speakers include Madeleine Viljoen, Curator of Prints, The New York Public Library; Robin Reisenfeld, Associate Professor, Christie’s Education; Phil Sanders, Master Printer, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop; Samantha Rippner, Associate Curator, Department of Drawings and Prints, The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
