John Baldessari is an American conceptual artist whose work has been featured in more than 200 solo exhibitions around the world.  He explores the nature of representation through text and form.  In a sense, he is a scavenger and collector of visual data, using the canvas to edit that data and present it to the public in an evocative way.  His many awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship (1986) and the Governor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts, CA (1997).

Raymond Pettibon

Raymond Pettibon is a cult figure among underground music devotees for his early work associated with the Los Angeles punk rock scene. Pettibon has acquired an international reputation as one of the foremost contemporary American artists working with drawing, text, and artist’s books.  Themes from art history and nineteenth-century American literature appear with American politics from the 1960s and contemporary pop culture.  Retrospectives of his work have been held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, LA.
