American multimedia artist best known for his colorful pop-art constructions depicting frenetic scenes of modern urban life.

Red Grooms

Red Grooms was born in Nashville, Tennessee, 1937. Grooms studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Nashville’s Peabody College, The New School, New York and later with artist Hans Hoffman. He currently lives and works in New York City.A critically acclaimed multimedia artist, Grooms is best known for the frenetic scenes of modern urban life. Grooms dedicated himself to New York stories; his series of prints and sculptural tableaux are homage to the city. Grooms’ work conveys a sense of humor and an appreciation of human nature that is universally understood. He has exhibited extensively in the United States, Europe and Japan and is represented in the collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art,NY; The Metropolitan Museum; The Museum of Modern Art; The Art Institute of Chicago; Art Museum; and The Fort Worth Art Museum among  many others.
