James Stroud

James Stroud is an America painter and print maker who lives and works in New York City. He graduated from Yale School of Art in 1984 with his M.F.A. He is primarily known for his procedurally based geometric abstract oil paintings on aluminum panels.
Stroud’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and Europe, including at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC; Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, CT; Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA; the Delaware Museum of Art in Wilmington, DE; the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, Russia; the Russian Cultural Institute in Moscow, Russia; and the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University.

He has been the recipient for a number of awards, including a Tiffany Foundation Fellowship nomination in 2005, A New England Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting in 1996 and a Massachusetts Artist Fellowship in 1989.
